The Mark of Christ
A lot has been made about ‘the mark of the beast’ as recorded in Rev. 13:16. In this story, those that follow the power of darkness are said to receive a mark on either their head or their hand. I never payed that much attention to that passage until I read this passage in the next chapter:
Rev. 14:1 ‘Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.‘
It’s interesting that Satan ‘marks’ his followers, while the followers of Christ ‘have His name’! What a difference between these two ideas. I think all of us bear the marks/scars of the enemy! It is not a relationship, it is slavery of the basest and most degrading sort. But when we devote ourselves to God, we become adopted children! He loves us to the point that He is willing to let us wear His name.
Besides this, isn’t it interesting that the mark of the beast can be found on the head or the hand, while God’s name is only written on the forehead of His followers? You see the enemy doesn’t care if you follow him with your mind, or with your actions, either way you are his! Some people are evil, while others get caught up in doing what is wrong. It doesn’t matter to Satan, he’ll take both types of people.
But our God only accepts those that are fully devoted to them. How many times have you heard that somebody doesn’t follow God, they just try to be ‘a good person’? This is not ok with God. He wants people to choose to be with Him. The great news is, when you choose to be with God, you have chosen the side that wins!
